@Zaxster_-3-3 years agoSo here are some tips/things I've learnt from making it: 1. Although the cake itself tastes great, without icing it is just a dry cake (kind of like churros without a dip). Making the icing is pretty much a must if you want the best taste. Personally I used 45% cooking dark chocolate since it's not too sweet or sour/bitter (don't forget that the cream sweetens the chocolate). When you put the icing on, first let the cake cool for 8 minutes or so, so that when you place the icing on it doesn't just melt off leaving a very thin layer. And as for adjusting the ratio of cream to chocolate (which should be diced up), just keep adding more and whisking it until it gets to the right consistency. 2. The bottom of the cake will be crunchy since it was touching the base of the stove. I personally love it since it's almost like (and pretty much is) a cookie cake. So when you try taking a spoonful of the finished cake, you might have a bit of trouble cutting through the bottom. 3. Like someone else said, check up on your cake every 15 minutes or so as everyone stoves and pot sizes vary. A very important tip is that if you have an electric stove then you don't need to place the pot in a pan, since the pan was just used to disperse the heat of the flames. 4. You don't have to bake it on the stove. You can bake it in the oven but again, keep checking on it every 15-20 minutes with a skewer to make sure that the batter has completely solidifed. I recommend baking it at 160° fan forced to make sure it bakes properly, but if you're short on time then go for 180°. 5. Yes, the aesthetic of how Nino does the process, especially the pouring of the chocolate icing is really nice but please just make the cake for the taste. For me, my icing wasn't as runny/liquidy as his but it still tasted fine, heck I got more icing on it since it actually stayed on the cake. And trust me, just write the ingredients on the shopping list if you don't have the ingredients, as easy and irritating as it is to just look at this, want to make it but just give up, please push ahead and commit to it. In the end it's rewarding and you can learn some cooking skills which trust me, come in handy later on. Plus, this is a good way to show appreciation to your family or siblings, just giving them a slice of baked cake you made on your own (or with your parents help) just makes everyone happy. I wish you luck and I'm sure it will go well, for parts of the process that you are unsure of just check the comments on this reply as someone has probs already asked the same question. Let me know if these tips helped and if there's anything I can add to help any troubled people regarding the recipe ...2290
