In this video Leslie presents a review of nanofiber membranes as carriers for drug delivery. There are times when people can't swallow pills or long term release is needed therefore transdermal patches are used. Medicated nanofibers in the form of patches/films can be placed in the skin or could be placed under the tongue for sublingual type of administration which would ensure that the medicine will only encounter the salivary enzymes before entering the bloodstream vs pills that have to be swallowed and face acids within the stomach therefore degrading its efficiency and as such higher dosages are needed in the pill. Bright future ahead. Think of other potential applications!!!!!
