@bellatrixevans6 years ago And if you guys want to hear something even more ironic - you know how H&M and Gap and Forever 21 are super cheap in the USA? Well they're ridiculously expensive here in places like India (shares a border with Bangladesh, and there are plenty of factories that export cloth from here). So H&M is marketed and sold as an upper-middle class luxury, with the same jacket costing $ 30-40, instead of maybe $15-25 as in the US stores. It's quite absurd ... 406

@laurab.87618 years ago This documentary inspired me to do my graduation project about our fashion industry. It makes me sick and sad, seeing al those people suffer while producing our clothes. When I'm graduated I would love to start an initiative for fair fashion. ... 355

@anula26209 years ago Another reasons why you should buy your clothes second hand . If you wear something that another person has worn before, you prolong the life of this garment. If a lot of people do that, less new clothes are produced and stop this madness(as well as less waste). ... 550

@Bournemouthdreamer8 years ago I can recommend this movie to everyone. Watch it. Listen. Change your lifestyle. Preach.
After this watching this movie, with tears rolling over my cheeks at times, I wanted to meet the garment workers and apologize for my selfish behavior. Because I never took their situation serious. My life has changed and I hope this movie will change your life too. Because I believe that together we can make this world a better place. And say goodbye to poverty forever. An we have to start somewhere and for me this is a good place to start. ...

@gabriellejohnson65008 years ago Wow. Very moving trailer (moved me to tears). I'm not a big consumer....however, even I was ashamed of my shallow pursuits for material things, as I watched families being exploited for what will cost us only $9.99, and will eventually end up, of very little consequence, on the floor in a corner of the room. ... 144

@alliewithbooks9 years ago The bad part about this is that it is so hard for the majority of people (even in "wealthier" countries) to afford ethically produced clothing. I can't afford ethical clothing, and I know a lot of people who can't either. I can hardly afford the clothing I do buy. So really, people can sit around and tell people that they are awful and should be ashamed for buying cheap clothing, but the reality is that I can't afford ethical clothing. It isn't that I'm cheap or am hoarding my money. It's that I honest to god don't make enough. So I'm forced to buy my clothes cheap. If anyone knows of ethical, but truly inexpensive clothing brands, I would love to know about them. The fashion industry is such a vicious cycle. ... 75

@freedomisthechoicesyoumake85944 years ago I've learned my lesson to the point i will no longer purchase any type of fast fashion crap. It breaks my heart to see such atrocities being done just for cheap beauty, and it's costing us big time, more so, the poor. @MsTropicalRookie9 years ago I look at something like this and see the injustice and oppression and wonder what can a person like me do about this? Boycott? Then these people will be even worse off with no jobs. Do we never buy another item of clothing pr shoes ever again? Certainly we will have to at some point. All I can say to people experiencing such wrongs is this." Wait on the Lord and be of good courage and He shall strengthen your hearts. wait I say on the Lord." Psalm . I know  God sees it all and He will punish those who take advantage of their labourers by injustice and oppression.
"Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you. Your wealth is rotting away, and your fine clothes are moth-eaten rags. Your gold and silver are corroded. The very wealth you were counting on will eat away your flesh like fire. This corroded treasure you have hoarded will testify against you on the day of judgment. For listen! Hear the cries of the field workers whom you have cheated of their pay. The cries of those who harvest your fields have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter. You have condemned and killed innocent people, who do not resist you." James 5:1-6

@nayomeer47369 years ago I had heard of cheap fast fashion coming from "WalMart" the cheap prices they offer come at a heft price for someone else in another part of the globe. That's why I don't shop there, no matter what. Low Morals, Low Ethics always. I have stopped buying new clothes and instead upcycle from friends, family, and thrift stores, garage sales. But with the help of this film I know of the many other companies that are contributing to the poor deplorable extremely dangerous labor conditions being forced on people who are trying to put food on their families table, and allowing me to share this information with others. Exposing these companies. It's a travesty..alot of people don't know what is going on. ... 3
