In 2019, Anna Skaya, founder and CEO of Basepaws, received a $250,000 investment on ABC's “Shark Tank” for its at-home cat DNA test. Robert Herjavec and Kevin O'Leary, investors on the reality show, agreed to a joint investment with each contributing $125,000 in exchange for a 5 percent ownership share each. The show aired during episode 21 of Shark Tank's 10th season, on April 28th, 2019.
“I'm not a cat guy, but I know a successful business when I see one,” O'Leary said. “There's real intellectual property here-this company will be huge.”
